DC-W vs MI-W: “Credit To Our Bowlers”- Harmanpreet Kaur After Winning The Match Against DC Women

MI Women thrashed DC Women in the 7th Match of WPL 2023. MI Women won the match by 8 wickets and now have won 3 back-to-back matches in the championship. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was spot-on with her field placings. Harmanpreet Kaur‘s decision to give the new ball to Saika Ishaque did wonders as the spinner took 3 wickets for 13 runs in her 3-over spell.

DC Women would be in a state of shock as getting bundled out for 105 runs is quite shocking in modern cricket. DC Women Skipper Meg Lanning continued her purple patch as the right-handed batter scored 43 runs in 41 balls where she struck 5 fours where now she has 183 runs to her name in WPL 2023.

MI Women chased down the target of 106 runs with ease. The openers Yastika Bhatia & Hayley Matthews were involved in a huge partnership of 65 runs. Yastika Bhatia scored a quick-fire 41 runs in 32 balls where she struck 8 fours. It was a comprehensive win for MI Women where they outplayed DC Women in all the 3 facets of the game.

DC Women fans would be utterly disappointed with this performance as there was no intent from the batters as there was nothing significant in the pitch for the bowlers. Perhaps DC Women need to go back to the drawing board as their middle order was exposed as every time the openers won’t lay the foundation for the team.

During the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur was asked about the team’s performance.

“Today our bowlers did really well. They’re making my job easier. Whoever comes in is eager to bowl. When you have so many options, your job is so easy. Credit to our bowlers. Bowling according to the field is key in T20s and we’re able to do that.” said Harmanpreet Kaur.

“After the last game we all discussed that we bowled some bad balls. Yastika and Hayley gave us a really good start. Now the tournament is going to start because the pitches are going to be on the slower side,” she said.
