Is Hubert Hurkacz Vegan? Here’s the Answer and All You Need to Know

Buy Now

Is Hubert Hurkacz vegan? Yes, the Polish star follows a plant-based diet. He is a tall and powerful player, which makes fans curious about his dietary discipline which allows him to maintain his fitness while being vegan.

In early 2020, he shed light on his choice to go vegan in an interview with the ATP Tour media. Hurkacz revealed he turned to the lifestyle after being inspired by food documentaries and receiving recommendations to switch his diet. Answering a fan’s query on X (formerly Twitter), he said he decided to stick to veganism after getting good results upon trying it out. He stated he consumes protein shakes to fulfil his protein intake.

Hurkacz further revealed that his go-to meal of choice is pasta with tomato sauce and vegetables. This is a very common dish among elite athletes, ranking among Roger Federer’s favorites. He also enjoys the occasional burrito at home, loading it with vegetables. Like the Swiss star, Hurkacz also loves Indian and Thai food.

The World No.8 also professed his liking for ice-creams, saying vegan variants are easily available nowadays. Before matches, he said he goes for a plate of rice with tomato sauce and vegetables. Like many other star players, including Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, Hurkacz prefers bananas for a mid-match bite.

Novak Djokovic is the most famous tennis player who follows a plant-based diet. Nick Kyrgios, Venus Williams, and Bernard Tomic are fully vegan too.

Is Hubert Hurkacz vegan? Yes, and it has helped him achieve great heights

Hurkacz is not the flashiest or the most attention-grabbing player in the upper echelons of the game. While he may not make the headlines as often as his peers, he has quietly established himself as an ATP top 10 regular. He is currently at a career-best World No.8 spot, achieved in January 2024. His bonding with Iga Swiatek was the talk of the town as they led Poland to a second-place finish at the 2024 United Cup.

Standing 196 cm (6’5″) tall, Hubert Hurkacz has a booming serve that goes over 150mph at times. Using his physical strengths and maintaining his fitness has helped him achieve many firsts for a male player from his country. He became the first Polish ATP pro to win a Masters tournament when he bagged the 2021 Miami Open title.

More recently, he won the 2023 Shanghai Masters. He has been in the top 10 since early November last year. His consistent success and stay in the elite bracket means there are two vegan players in the top 10.

After a good start to his 2024 season with the United Cup, Hurkacz made it to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. He followed it up with a semi-final finish in the Open 13 Provence. After a stutter in the Rotterdam Open, he will hope to go deep at the Dubai Tennis Championships. He is up against Christopher O’Connell in the second round.

Moreover, he was the first quarterback to ever rush for more than 1,000 yards in 2006. His career, however, came to a halt after he was caught being involved in a dogfighting ring, resulting in a 21-month-long incarceration. After getting released, Vick made a comeback to the league, and the Eagles tagged him in 2009. In 2011, he inked a six-year, $100 million contract with the club. He later played for the Jets and the Steelers as well. As of 2024, his net worth is an impressive $16 million, proving he’s still making moves off the field.

Early Life and High School

Growing up in a crime-ridden neighborhood in Newport News, Virginia, Michael Vick’s early life was a mix of challenges and hope. Born to teenage parents Brenda Vick and Michael Boddie, who struggled to make ends meet, Vick’s childhood was spent in Ridley Circle Homes, a public housing project for the needy. His love for football became apparent early on, especially during his time at Homer L.

When Ferguson High School closed, Vick and his coach, Tommy Reamon, moved to Warwick High School. Vick’s high school days were remarkable under Coach Reamon’s watch. Playing for the Warwick Raiders, he threw for over 4,800 yards and 43 touchdowns, plus rushed for more than a thousand yards with 18 scores. In his senior year, Vick passed for 1,668 yards and was responsible for 20 touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capability.

College Career

Starting strong in 1999, Vick’s debut was unforgettable, scoring three rushing touchdowns in his very first game. Despite an injury early on, he didn’t slow down, leading his team to an undefeated season and a spot in the national title game. With the highest passing efficiency for a freshman at the time, Vick scooped up an ESPY and the Archie Griffin Award — and even landed third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

In 2000, Mike Vick set a record by rushing for 210 yards in a game against Boston College. Despite getting injured and taking a hard loss against Miami, Vick did not let that stop him. He powered through and led his team to a win at the Gator Bowl, where he was named the MVP. The first two years at Virginia Tech were game-changers for him. His time in college, highlighted by a top-six finish in the Heisman Trophy race and getting into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2017, definitely showed the world Vick’s incredible skill and grit.

Victor Wembanyama Makes History, Becomes Only Third Player With Over 1 Billion Views on NBA’s Social Media Platforms in 2023–24

Buy Now

Victor Wembanyama‘s NBA career is off to a flying start. Even though the San Antonio Spurs are sitting at the bottom of the WC, Wemby has proven to be nothing short of a prodigy in his first NBA season. Other than his on-court triumphs, the 20-year-old is also breaking records off the court. It was recently announced that the Spurs rookie has become only the third NBA player to garner over a billion views on social media this season.

A lot was riding on Wembanyama from the minute he was drafted, and, he has managed to thrive under all the attention. Recently, the 20-year-old crossed a billion views mark across NBA social media platforms since the start of the season. He is the third NBA player to do so this year, only trailing behind two giants of the game, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. King James has 1.3 billion views while Steph has 1.2 billion across platforms.

The record for the most viewed video across the NBA’s social media platforms also belongs to the 20-year-old. Wembanyama’s dunk against the Boston Celtics is the most-viewed video of all time with 153 million views. In the clip, Wemby can be seen approaching the bucket, dwarfing 6’4″ Derrick White on his way. Records are coming in hot and fast for the rookie and he is backing up the hype with good performances consistently.

Victor Wembanyama is destined for greatness

No doubt Wembanyama’s staggering 7’4″ build has allowed him to be extremely effective on both ends of the floor. He has been proving it this season as he leads the Spurs in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks, averaging 20.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 3.3 blocks, per game.

Although his team isn’t doing so well in the league, Wemby’s brilliance can’t be denied solely based on the numbers he’s putting in. Even with a lack of experience in the roster, Wemby and the young core of the Spurs have shown chemistry on the court, though not been able to convert them into wins.

The Frenchman is presenting a very strong case for the coveted Rookie of the Year trophy this season. This is also being backed by veterans and analysts who believe that the impact that Wemby has made in such a short period is worth every accolade. With time, we can expect him to be every bit of an athlete that fans want him to be.

“Charles Barkley I Want a Rematch”: ‘Losing’ $75,000, DJ Khaled Makes ‘Epic Comeback’ Against NBA Legend

Buy Now

Charles Barkley and DJ Khaled engaged in a charity best-of-three Par 3 challenge during 2024 Capital One’s ‘The Match’. Initially, it was supposed to be a single Par 3 challenge but Khaled wanted more after losing the first contest. For the first one, a $25,000 price tag was chosen and the loser had to contribute to the First Tee charity. To make matters more interesting, DJ Khaled put a $50,000 side bet, which meant $75000 to the First Tee charity pot after the first Par 3.

Throughout the contest, Khaled kept saying, “I’m gonna win this” and talked a lot of trash to Barkley while keeping it respectful. Meanwhile, after some initial exchanges, Barkley went about his business.

During the first Par 3, Barkley managed to get closer and ultimately putt the ball in the hole after some shaky hits. Khaled, who was heard saying, “No one can outputt me”, couldn’t finish the deal. Thus, Barkley won the first Par 3 contest. However, Khaled wanted revenge after losing a total of $75000.

50,000 on the side bet for charity for the kids. And how much 25000? Young World congratulations you won. Charles Barkley, I want a rematch,” stated DJ Khaled.

In this laughter-fest affair, Khaled did manage to win the next two challenges and made a comeback from 0-1. Throughout the process, the record producer acknowledged how great it was to play with an NBA legend like Charles Barkley. This wasn’t the first time that the NBA 1987 rebounding leader was playing a top-flight celebrity during Capitol One’s ‘The Match’.

Charles Barkley loves betting on golf

Barkley has bet on a ton of golf games before, after all, he used to engage in such contests with Michael Jordan regularly, well into their retirement, before they had their falling off. These habits have been also reflected in his involvement with “The Match”, however, the one-on-one events here are focused upon charity.

In 2020, at the peak of COVID-19, Barkley and Tom Brady engaged in a $50,000 bet. The Inside the NBA analyst challenged the NFL legend to hit the ball in the putting green. Brady failed to achieve the goal and Barkley didn’t have to lose $50,000. However, the former Buccaneers player managed to land the ball in the greens and asked Barkley to “shut up”.

Apart from the Brady challenge, the Chuckster had an even more intriguing match-up. In 2020, he went against Warriors superstar Stephen Curry whose prolific golfing skills have earned him further acclaim. With a price tag of $5,40,000 on the line, Barkley managed to defeat Curry, who was an overwhelming favorite to win the contest. Thanks to his decades-long experience in the sport, the 1993 NBA MVP can hold his own.

However, the recent buzz around the former couple sparked when news broke out that the Brazilian supermodel,43, has found love once again and has been in a relationship for the past few months.

Gisele’s new partner happens to be her jiu-jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente, a longtime acquaintance of both her and Brady. Page Six has reported that Gisele and Joaquim are frequently spending time with each other, especially at Gisele’s Miami home, with recently Joaquim getting spotted walking her dog. Moreover, the outlet’s source has even confirmed that Gisele and her fling shared a passionate kiss on Valentine’s Day in their Miami neighborhood.

While there’s a lot of chatter about Gisele’s connection with her jiu-jitsu trainer, NFL fans and the media are eagerly awaiting any response from Tom Brady, her ex and former New England Patriots quarterback. While it’s highly unlikely for him to speak up about this, it’s evident that he, too, is moving forward from his past relationship and focusing on the future. Nevertheless, amidst all the chaos, the former NFL star made headlines for an entirely different reason.

Lately, pictures of the seven-time Super Bowl champ have been making waves online, showcasing Brady’s beefed-up biceps post-gym session. Sporting a white tee, black shorts, and a cap, he left the gym with a bag and bottle in hand, stirring up excitement in the NFL community.

The seven-time Super Bowl champ has always been dedicated to fitness, and his impressive biceps have been a standout feature since his younger years. Even though Tom Brady has retired from the NFL, he is still as fit as ever at 46. Moreover, Brady has made a few dating headlines of his own after getting spotted hanging out with Russian model Irina Shayk.

The former NFL star seems willing to maintain a positive relationship with Valente for the sake of their children, showing maturity and a commitment to their well-being. Both Brady and Bündchen are adapting and prioritizing their family’s needs, despite any personal challenges they may face.

He will replace the former tight end Greg Olsen, who will now be on the No. 2 team. He will team up with Fox’s best play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, showing his potential to shine in his post-retirement career.

At a Glance: How Hendrick Motorsports Bungled up Promising Atlanta Result Ft. Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson

The Ambetter Health 400 on Sunday ended up being a forgetful affair for Cup Series mammoth, Hendrick Motorsports. The team flew to Atlanta on the back of a victorious weekend at Daytona and were hoping to make their 40th-anniversary celebration a tad bit louder, but missteps prevailed.

None of the four high-caliber stars found it in them to follow through on the strength of their cars and ended up outside the top 10 at the race end. The biggest disappointment of the day came from #5 driver Kyle Larson. Highly regarded as one of the most skilled drivers of the current generation, Larson started the race in 5th place.

The opening stage saw him battle Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney for the lead before he finished it in 4th place. He then proceeded to put on a great display of speed and finished the second stage in 2nd place with chances of victory lane reigning high. However, an issue with a rear tire caused him to have a lengthy pit stop, after which he restarted the final stage from 18th place.

Despite the setback, he found his way back to the top five. But that was only until he got involved in a wreck in the 219th lap. The incident involved Brad Keselowski and Corey LaJoie and ended up with Larson finishing 32nd. “There wasn’t anything I could do from my seat,” Larson regretted. The showcase was his best in the Atlanta Motor Speedway since its reconfiguration.

The fallback of Chase Elliott and the other Hendrick Heroes

Chase Elliott’s day in Atlanta was filled with wrecks, damages, and pit stops. The #9 Chevrolet Camaro’s pilot saw himself starting from the rear courtesy of an unapproved adjustment to his car. He was then involved in an accident in just the second lap of the race that forced him to the pits for repair.

After a delayed start in the second stage, he found his way to the leaderboard for a short while. He continued exchanging blows in the top ten when Ross Chastain spun him out in lap 199. Elliott avoided significant damage through some clever handling and resumed his race. He finished 15th in the standings.

The latest Daytona 500 champion William Byron was one of the most expected drivers for the Ambetter Health 400. He qualified 11th and held positive odds for a back-to-back win, but continual issues with his car hurt his chances. He led the #24 Camaro to a 17th-place finish. He was the second-best driver for HMS behind Elliott on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the #48 driver, Alex Bowman’s day took a bad turn right from the beginning. He was involved in the 16-car wreck on lap 2 and found himself alongside Elliott in the pits for repair. He eventually ended the day in 27th place. Looking ahead the four drivers will race in Las Vegas on March 3.

Yuri Andrade is a 33-year-old man from Boca Raton who became famous after facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge during the Super Bowl. He ran across the Raymond James Stadium, half-naked, in the fourth quarter of the game with five minutes left in the Buccaneers’ 31-9 win over the Chiefs. Andrade’s stunt was enjoyed by fans worldwide, mostly because of the way he outmaneuvered security before being brought down near the touchdown line. But the question remains: Did he streak at this year’s Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium as well?

No, Yuri Andrade did not perform the said stunt at this year’s Super Bowl. He did it in 2021. He was arrested the morning after the Super Bowl and told authorities that he was an influencer and an entrepreneur, per USA TODAY. Yuri was identified as a streaker by a sportsperson when he was taken into custody.

Yuri even proudly talked about his actions on Instagram, posting a video with the message, “I am the f–king king now.”

A post shared by Yuri Andrade (@kingyuri)

Moreover, initial reports indicated Andrade might have been sent by YouTube sensation Vitaly Zdorovetskiy to advertise his adult website, “Vitaly Uncensored,” as seen from the logo on Andrade’s clothing. The streaking indeed caused a stir on social media to this date, so much so that to this date, Yuri boasts an Instagram following of 175,000.

Did Yuri Andrade Get Anything Out Of His Half-Naked Super Bowl Stunt?

When Yuri jumped on the field, he got a fantastic call from the iconic play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan, who was broadcasting the game over the radio. There were multiple reports published by elite media houses that helped the Super Bowl LV streaker get viral exposure. He later revealed that he had not just breached the field, but also put a $50,000 Super Bowl streaker bet and turned it into $374,000.

The claim eventually raised eyebrows in the betting world. Patrick Everson of Covers.com also highlighted on Twitter that offshore sportsbooks probably had safeguards against such large bets. Moreover, Front Office Sport’s A.J. Perez explained how the field intrusion bet placed with Bovada, an offshore sportsbook, where Yuri claimed to have placed his wager, was limited to $1000.

Moreover, Bovada promised to investigate and cancel any streaker bets linked to Andrade or the planned event. The sportsbook stated they would not pay out any funds for these types of bets. A.J. Perez further stated that another bettor placed $800 on the same bet and won $6000, however, he was soon informed that he would not be receiving money.

How NASCAR Drivers Try to Game the Weight System Before the Race, Chase Briscoe Reveals

Buy Now

In sports like the MMA or WWE, weigh-ins are a must. One would surely not expect to watch a 175-pound fighter face off a 240-pound guy. However, in NASCAR, weigh-ins are probably not necessary. Or perhaps that is what you might have thought was the case. Surprisingly, the NASCAR cars need to make a certain weight, excluding the extra ballast, to be eligible to compete in a race. However, the current nature of the driver weigh-in for cars doesn’t resonate well with Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe.

The way the system is now, it is hard to make weight. The drivers are weighed just in their underwear, thus there isn’t a lot for them to do other than to drink water. “But in the past, you could do whatever,” recalled the Ford pilot. “I remember one year I weighed around 185 or 188 pounds, but I weighed in at 209. I had lead tape bolted to the bottom of my feet. I had all this stuff in my pockets, like lead spacers.”

“Literally, it was stupid. I could barely walk. I had a jacket on because it was super cold and my T-shirt underneath my sweatshirt, (the team) soaked it in water. It was crazy how much weight I was able to add on,” he added while talking to The Athletic.

So what is the way out? Briscoe said that the weighing should be random, like a surprise drug test. “Maybe you get everybody’s weight at the beginning of the year, where there are still going to be some games played there,” said the #14 speedster. “But then you do like randoms in the first five weeks, and just check them to see if they’re close.”

How can a driver maintain their weight before a race?

It doesn’t need someone to be a driver to tell how hot and humid it can be inside a stock car. To avoid getting dehydrated, drivers need to follow strict hydration protocols and sometimes even carry sodium pills with them to maintain salt levels in their blood. They also need to undertake a protein-rich diet to ensure optimum performance on the track. The drivers are advised to eat five smaller meals instead of the standard three meals a day. They can also snack on foods like almonds. Just before the race, drivers often consume complex and fast-digesting carbohydrates like oatmeal and bananas.

“It’s a huge advantage (to have more weight),” explained Briscoe. “They take every 10 pounds, and car and driver (together) have to weigh whatever it is, right? So if I weigh 190 and somebody weighs 170, my car has to have 20 less pounds than their car.” \

The drivers also need to keep their weight in check throughout the entire season and adjust their workout regimens accordingly. While it doesn’t require them to grow abs, the goal is to reduce fat and build lean muscle.

“Giannis Antetokounmpo Has a Lot of Blood on His Hands”: Kendrick Perkins Explains Why the Greek Freak Must Win a Title This Year

Buy Now

After the firing of ex-Bucks coach Adrian Griffin, who had a decent win record of 30-13 with the Milwaukee side, Giannis Antetokounmpo was alleged to have a role behind it. In a recent segment of ESPN’s First TakeKendrick Perkins claimed that Antetokounmpo has way more responsibility than ever to win a title with the Bucks this season.

In a statement that shocked Stephen A. Smith, Perkins said,

“Giannis Antetokounmpo has a lot of blood on his hands.”

Given that the team management made several moves during the off-season to accommodate Giannis’ demands of including new additions to the squad, such as Damian Lillard, it seems like a fair ask. In this ordeal, the Bucks had to part with their defensive cornerstone, Jrue Holiday, who is now putting up generational performances to lead the Boston Celtics to the top of the EC.

Adding on to this thought, Perk stated, “Giannis, you put pressure on the Milwaukee Bucks to trade Jrue Holiday to get in a new superstar. I’m not saying he went in and said to trade Jrue Holiday. But he put pressure on the Bucks that required Damian Lillard. So now, you got Damian Lillard, you got a new coach in Doc Rivers, who won a championship.”

The Bucks have budged to almost every demand of Antetokounmpo, who threatened not to sign an extension if he didn’t see any glimpse of success with his team. Further, Perk emphasized how Giannis now has the added pressure to win a ring.

Giannis has been delivering some of the best performances this season, averaging 30.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, which well assures his commitment to helping the Bucks contend for the title. He averaged 25.2 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in his last five outings before the All-Star break.

At this juncture, the Bucks would be extremely cautious against losing Giannis, who is crucial to helping the team win games. If the Greek Freak continues putting the numbers as he has been, he could even help the Bucks transition into one of the most dangerous NBA teams to contend in the upcoming postseason.

HC Rivers is struggling to keep up with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.

Doc Rivers has visibly struggled to create an impact in his stint with the Milwaukee Bucks so far. The veteran coach was hired by the Bucks mid-season, and under him, Milwaukee lost seven of their last ten games before breaking for the All-Star weekend. Before Doc Rivers, the Bucks struggled defensively after they parted with their defensive guard Jrue Holiday. Notably, since coach Rivers’ arrival, the Bucks have failed to field their preferred starting five in their last eight games owing to injuries plaguing the roster.

Mandatory Credit: Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Though Doc Rivers is a championship-winning coach, he has a history of fumbling crucial games in the postseason. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown his faith in the veteran coach’s methods, saying that the Bucks players must bring their ‘A’ game while having coach Rivers on their bench.

Given that the Bucks have a solidified claim to contend in the playoffs, this season, players such as the Greek Freak under Doc Rivers could seriously help overhaul the team’s performance, making them title contenders.

The team has produced 40 special edition cars as part of its celebration for the year and 39 of these ruby-red vehicles will be available for purchase at select Chevrolet dealerships.

The red color coat marks HMS’s ruby anniversary in NASCAR. The team secured its first win in its 8th race ever at Martinsville back in 1984. To commemorate the same, all four Cup Series cars from the team will be coated in the same ruby-red paint at the 2024 Martinsville race on April 7.

“We are just getting started”: Rick Hendrick boosts team morale at Daytona

Unveiling the team’s plans for the year, owner Rick Hendrick addressed the press and his employees worldwide. He said, “When I think back on our story, I have a hard time believing it myself. In 1984, we had five employees, 5,000 square feet of rented space, and a lot of desire to make it work. I dreamed of one day winning a race, but I never imagined it would grow into what it is now.”

Thanking his supporters for the belief they had over the last four decades he concluded, “It’s been an incredible ride, and we’re just getting started.” Hendrick Motorsports is today the most successful venture in the NASCAR Cup Series with a historical record of 301 victories and 14 championships. The team finds its name atop every major statistical figure including top-five finishes, top-ten finishes, and pole positions.

Beating Lakers in the 1991 Finals Became the Stepping Stone of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson’s Friendship: “Saw Tears in His Eyes”

The 1991 NBA Finals was a landmark event in the history of the league. The event marked the moment when Magic Johnson passed the torch to Michael Jordan, as the 90’s would belong to the Bulls. Game 5 was a hard-fought battle between the Lakers and the Bulls. After the buzzer sounded, Jordan and the Bulls emerged victorious as Magic and the Lakers fell to the floor. Jordan would silence the nay-sayers, as he broke the stereotype of “just a scorer, not a winner“.

Recalling the incident in his book, ‘Michael Jordan: The Life’, Ronald Lazenby wrote,

“On the floor in the quiet aftermath, Laker superfan Jack Nicholson hugged Jackson, and Magic Johnson sought out Jordan to offer his congratulations. The two had become closer during the series after Johnson approached Jordan and told him that they needed to forget their differences. The event was the true beginning of their friendship, Jordan would say later. ‘I saw tears in his eyes,’ Johnson said of their conversation after the final buzzer.”

Magic and Jordan would embrace, as the Bulls legend was teary-eyed on winning the finals. Johnson congratulated Jordan, and told him,

“You proved everyone wrong. You’re a winner as well as a great individual basketball player.”

Even though Johnson wasn’t in his prime, he was still an exceptional player when he faced off against Jordan in 1991. The match-up between Jordan and Magic was mostly one-sided, as the Bulls kept Magic under 20 points on two different occasions in the finals.

The relationship between MJ and Magic Johnson

Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson have shared a very tumultuous relationship. Early in Jordan’s career, Magic was the top dog in the league. So when Jordan was coming up, Magic was the man to beat. Fans often pitted Jordan and Magic against each other, as their match-up was anticipated to be one of the biggest showdowns in sports.

In his book, ‘When The Game Was Ours’, Magic revisited his relationship with Jordan,

“We never got a chance to talk about it,’ Magic said. ‘It was Magic against Michael. That’s why we never became friends. It’s too bad we never spent any time together. People ask me all the time why I didn’t do more projects with Michael. I don’t even know what to tell them. It [the freeze-out] was a misunderstanding, and neither one of us ever reached out and tried to smooth things over.”

The 1985 Magic, during Jordan’s first All-Star appearance, would be involved in what many call the “Freeze-Out”. It was reported that the veterans on the team decided to ‘not pass’ the ball to Jordan. No 23 would leave the game with only 8 points, resulting in a rift between Jordan and the veterans.

Years later, both Magic and Jordan would sort out their differences, as the duo was even seen partying in Europe together. The two superstars were also seen engaging in banter during the NBA-75 ceremony, as they speculated on who would win during a 1v1.

“Dropped His Bag and Delivered a Punch”: Shams Charania Reveals New Details About Pistons Player Punching an Opponent

The NBA world was left confused after reports suggested that Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart had punched Phoenix Suns’ Drew Eubanks before a game between the two teams on February 14. Eubanks revealed later on that he was allegedly punched by Stewart in the parking lot of Footprint Center as he was headed toward the locker room for the game. The shocking news grabbed headlines just a week before the All-Star Weekend. Meanwhile, NBA insider Shams Charania has come up with some interesting new details about the whole ordeal.

While the NBA is reportedly investigating the matter, not a lot of details have been revealed to the public except Eubanks’ own testimony. According to the Suns star, Stewart punched him completely unprovoked and he is not quite sure what might have prompted such a reaction. During a recent appearance on the Run It Back podcast, Shams Charania mentioned the presence of video evidence that supposedly clearly shows Eubanks getting punched by Stewart.

There is video. The security of Phoenix, they have seen it. The league has seen it too. The people that I’ve spoken to that have seen it [said], ‘Yeah, Drew Eubanks was punched in the face. Isaiah Stewart dropped his bags and delivered a punch,” Charania told the Run It Back crew.

He further added that Eubanks has reportedly seen the video as well and confirmed it to be the video of the concerned incident. Charania also said that his sources reported that the Phoenix Suns player stood there unfazed after the punch with a ‘stone-cold’ face before security officials intervened. Both players were later escorted away from the place by the security of their respective teams.

Stewart was arrested after the incident for the alleged assault. The presence of video evidence does put things more into perspective as the NBA nears the conclusion of their investigation.

The Phoenix Suns have stood behind Eubanks

The Phoenix Suns have stood behind their player in the wake of such a concerning incident. They released a statement after the incident, saying, “The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable…We unequivocally support Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA.

The Suns defeated the Pistons 116-100 despite what happened to Eubanks. The 27-year-old even tallied 6 points and 6 rebounds in his team’s dominant win at home.

Just when you thought the Pistons’ season couldn’t get any worse, Stewart’s reported actions have further put a stain on the 8-46 Detroit side’s nightmare campaign this season. Amidst all the noise, fans are still waiting for more information to be released on the unfortunate situation.

Will Zalatoris broke down in tears and wailed about the loss of a close family member at the Genesis Invitational presser. The golfer finished tied for second rank at the third PGA Tour signature event. The 27-year-old was out of the golf course due to a back injury before coming back earlier in November 2023. He was proud of his performance that saw a hole-in-one but in the back of his mind, the news of the ‘unexpected’ loss was unsettling.

The American golfer revealed that he was heading back to the North West to join his family. As Zalatoris joined the press conference, he expressed how holding up his feelings was tough before breaking up in tears at the presser.

Will Zalatoris reveals his emotions after the loss of a family member

As Zalatoris unraveled his feelings at the Genesis Invitational press conference, he said,

I didn’t say anything all week, but I – sorry…I lost a family member on Thursday and she was…all week. It was very unexpected. This whole week was for her. My family can’t be here no matter what would have happened, but very proud of how I played.”

Added to that, he continued, “Just shows you life’s short and appreciate the moments, how lucky I am to be out here. Every week I’ve been getting better, so I knew I just got to keep doing what I’m doing.”

This was the athlete’s best finish after starting his season with a missed cut and landing up T34 and T13 in the next two events. He was a runner-up at the 2021 Masters and also at the 2022 PGA Championship and US Open. But Zalatoris doesn’t want to land in second place next time and is targeting the upcoming events for better outcomes.

At one point on Sunday at the Genesis Invitational, Will Zalatoris was leading the leaderboard. Thus, the golfer has confidence in his club, and in the coming days, he will make progress. His last round saw four birdies over the eighteen holes as he finished with a 2 under 69 score on Sunday.

“Come Here Shaq Daddy!”: Michael Jordan Mic’d Up at the 1996 All Star Game Led to a Slew of Iconic Soundbites

The 1996 All-Star game is an iconic part of NBA history. It was the first time we had seen Shaquille O’Neal and Michael Jordan team up, with both players having been selected to represent the Eastern Conference. Before the game, Jordan was even mic’d up, resulting in fans being entertained by No 23’s hilarious interactions with his peers.

While the photoshoot for both teams was taking place, Jordan began his banter. His first victim was none other than Alonzo Mourning. Talking to the Heat legend, Jordan said,

“Number 45. Man, that’s a very bad lucky number. “

For many who might not know, Jordan played in the league wearing the number ’45’. He wore it back in High School and debuted it during his 1994-1995 season. The season would be a resounding failure for the Bulls, as Shaq and the Magic would eliminate the Bulls in the playoffs.

Talking about Shaq, the 7’1 center was also a starter on the East during the 1996 All-Star game. To many people’s surprise, O’Neal and MJ would play a small game of 1v1, with Shaq coming out on top. During his entire exchange with Shaq, Jordan decided to address the Big Fella as “Shaq Daddy”.

But calling O’Neal “Shaq Daddy“, wouldn’t be the end of Jordan’s antics. While walking through the stadium with the Eastern Conference team, Jordan jokingly told Glen Rice,

“I bet you, you’re going to shoot the first air ball.”

Now, unknown to many, Rice was set to defend his 3-point contest title that very evening. Unfortunately, things unraveled exactly like Jordan predicted it would, as Tim Legler of the Washington Wizards would beat out Glen Rice, taking home the trophy that year.

Even though ‘Rice’ couldn’t secure the win in the shooting contest, the All-Star game saw a different outcome. The East stayed in control throughout the contest, as Jordan and O’Neal proved too much for the West. The final score sat at 129-118, and Jordan was named MVP of the All-Star game.

Michael Jordan and Chris Paul changed the All-Star Game

The 2024 All-Star game saw a return to the previous format of, the West taking on the East. The last six editions of the tournament saw, mostly Stephen Curry, LeBron James, or Giannis Antetokounmpo, drafting their respect squads, as a captain system was introduced.

But unknown to many, MJ had a role to play in this monumental change to the All-Star Game format. Back in 2018, Jordan was still the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets, while also being chairman of the league’s labor relations committee. Alongside the then Players Union President Chris Paul, Jordan would appeal for the change in the All-Star Game format.

Mandatory Credit: Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Both Paul and Jordan were deeply invested in changing the format, as the All-Star game had become a joke, with teams scoring up to 180/190 points on one another. Playing defense was completely thrown out of the game, as the All-Star game started resembling a ‘lazy pick-up game’.

With the introduction of the ‘Captain System’, both Paul and Jordan believed that things would become more competitive between players. Concerns surrounding, ‘tampering’ and ‘voting’ did arise, but the league moved forward with the change, as the All-Star game needed to be revitalized urgently. Fast forward a few years, and the All-Star game continues to be more or less the same. Though things did get more exciting with the new format, the play on the court remained mostly the same, with defense still being non-existent during the whole four quarters.

Best Buds Patrick Cantlay And Xander Schauffele To Compete In A Showdown At Riviera

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are getting ready for a Sunday showdown at the Genesis Invitational. Schaufelle admitted,

“People needle us, you know what I’m saying. To split us up as teammates, but we’ll do whatever; it’s not a big deal.”

The golfers from South California are at each other’s throats, according to the leaderboard and both share a history of friendship. Even, during the Ryder Cup controversy, Xander supported his friend throughout.

Whether the golfers will join forces or compete on their own is something to wait for. The golfers are almost under the top ten in the world, with Schauffele in the 7th place and Cantlay in fifth place. We have seen Cantlay maintain first place on the leaderboard, and as Schaufelle also reached second place through an excellent Friday round, people started suspecting a pairing. In the third round, Cantlay received a bogey on hole 17 and that positioned him with a two-shot lead over Schauffele and Zalatoris. What does Schauffele think about the pairing?

What Does Xander Schauffele Think About His Pairing With Cantlay?

Xander said in an interview,

“It’s a pretty comfortable pairing for us. We play a lot, week in and week out, and we both love to compete. There’s nothing more we like to do than compete in big events. We’ve done it a few times and taken shots at each other. It’s something we talk about and something we want to keep doing.”

The golfers have been paired 20 times as competitors. They were also paired twice in Sunday rounds in 2022, where Cantlay won the BMW Championship and Schauffele won the Travelers Championship. The golfers also share Ryder Cup memories and have represented three winning US teams. Their bond started at the 2019 Presidents Cup, where Fred Couples suggested pairing.

As far as the Riviera match is concerned, Schaufelle is only two points behind. The golfer didn’t play at the Genesis Invitational until 2018 and T9 is his best finish, while Cantlay fits the course better with top-five finishes. Hence, finally, to overtake Cantlay, Schaufelle said,

“There’s just going to be a certain amount of self-belief that needs to go in. I’m not going to look at the board too much. I feel like I can just keep doing what I’m doing—get some pressure on Pat … is the most important thing.”

As the showdown takes place, it is to see who thrives in the event.

After Calling Brock Purdy “Game Manager” All Year, Cam Newton Blames 49ers Coaches for Letting QB Down

Buy Now

Brock Purdy exceeded all expectations this year, as in his second season as a starter, he led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. However, despite entering the game as favorites, the Bay Area side fell short, once again reigniting the Game Manager claims. On the other hand, one of his prominent critics, Cam Newton, also the first to label Purdy a ‘Game Manager’, feels that Mr. Irrelevant did enough to win the game but was let down by his coaches.

To add context, back when Purdy was in the MVP conversation, Newton had labeled him a game manager and considered him a product of Shanahan’s brilliant offensive schemes. Despite facing criticism from fans and Purdy’s teammates, the former NFL MVP has not backed down from his comments. He has only doubled down by asserting that the 49ers shot-caller is the 10th-best player in the 49ers squad.

Nonetheless, during a recent episode of his 4th&1 Podcast, Cam was asked to express his opinion of the notion that Purdy, as the game manager, could only muster a field goal on the final OT drive, whereas the game changer — Patrick Mahomes — tallied a touchdown.

The former Panthers QB asserted that Purdy didn’t deliver a bad performance in the Big Game. Instead, he placed the blame on the 49ers coaching staff for choosing to take the ball first in the OT despite winning the toss. Cam feels that the team wasn’t actively trying to score a touchdown but rather aiming for the points, which he believes is not the Quarterback’s fault. He said,

“Brock Purdy did not have a bad game,” followed by, “49ers, they were just trying to get points and that is not Brock Purdy’s fault. That’s bad coaching.”

This reaction has since sent a shockwave throughout the NFL world. So, let’s dive into how it all began. A few weeks back, Newton created an uproar in the NFL world when he called out Purdy and labeled him as a mere ‘game manager’ in a league full of ‘game changers’, even asserting that Purdy failed to make any significant difference for the Niners.

When confronted and berated for expressing his candid opinions, he asserted that not everyone has to be a game changer. You just have to make sure that you make the necessary plays and don’t throw the picks, the Des Moines Register reports.

Cam received harsh criticism from not only the NFL world but also from other known sports figures. While Purdy refused to respond to these comments, his teammates defended him. Notably, Fred Warner, after Purdy’s game-winning drive against the Lions, made a sarcastic remark and said, “Heck of a game manager, wow. Managed the heck out of that game.

Even star defensive back for the Niners, Deommodore Lenoir remarked, “If you look at his stats and look at what he did this season, how is he a game manager? What he has been doing this season, it works, he’s winning. Him being a game manager, I mean Tom Brady was a game manager, I guess.” Even NBA star Draymond Green chimed in and called the “game manager” comments ‘Slander’.

Reactions to Cam Newton’s Recent Brock Purdy Comments

Fans praised Cam for giving his honest opinions and generally agreed with his take. While one voice remarked how Cam is really good as a podcaster and doesn’t say anything malicious, others were quick to throw shades at the head coach, Kyle Shanahan. Take a look:

Another chimed in and stated,

Someone quipped,

Brock Purdy has consistently proven doubters wrong since taking over the starting role in 2022. Despite delivering a solid performance, he will continue to face criticism, much like every other great quarterback in the league.

However, once the dust settles, they will retrospectively review game films to identify where things went wrong. There is much work to be done in the offseason, especially with many players approaching the end of their contracts. The primary focus will be on keeping the core intact, as maintaining a stable roster is crucial for making consecutive Super Bowl appearances.

Net Worth $16 Million

Dominique Wilkins Net Worth

Introduction

Dominique Wilkins spent 15 seasons in the NBA while also featuring in the EuroLeague for two seasons. The Forward is best known for his time with the Atlanta Hawks. His one-handed and two-handed windmills earned him the moniker ‘The Human Highlight Film’’. As one of the best dunkers to grace the basketball floor, Nique has left a lasting impact on the NBA.

Early Life/School/College

Wilkins was born in Paris where his father served as a US Army Official. After moving from France to the USA, Nique and his family briefly lived in Dallas and Baltimore. Later, they settled in North Carolina’s Washington.

As a high-schooler, Wilkins mesmerized scouts and earned various honors. He was a part of the 1979 McDonald’s All-American team while also making his way into other High-School All-Star honors like the Capital Classic and the Dapper Dan Classic. Entering as one of the top prospects in college, Wilkins had a remarkable NCAA career for the University of Georgia. As the Forward for the Georgia Bulldogs side, he earned the SEC Player of the Year and SEC Tournament MVP Awards in 1981. Wilkins finished his three-year college career tallying 21.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game on 53% shooting.

NBA Career

During the 1982 Draft, the Utah Jazz selected Dominique Wilkins at #3 but traded him to the Atlanta Hawks. Within his third season, the Small Forward climbed the 25-point per game mark, a feat that will last for 10 more seasons in a row. For the Atlanta Hawks, he featured in 12 seasons and made nine straight All-Star teams from 1986 to 1994. The Forward was the NBA’s scoring leader during 1985-86 season as he put up 30.3 points a game. His best scoring season came during the 1987-88 season when he tallied 30.7 points per game.

During his 15-season long career, Wilkins never won a title. He got closest to his dream in the 1988 Playoffs when he lost in seven games to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semis. Apart from playing with the Hawks for 12 seasons, Nique had single-season stints with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, and the Orlando Magic. Sandwiched between his 15-season-long NBA career were two seasons in the EuroLeague, making for a 17-year pro basketball career.

Panathinaikos Athens

For the 1995-96 season, Nique headed to Greece’s basketball club Panathinaikos Athens. For Panathinaikos, he tallied 20.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game on 44.6% shooting. With the Greek club, he won the EuroLeague title, finally realizing the dream of winning a title at the professional level. Apart from Panathinaikos, Nique spent the 1997-98 season with Italian ball club Fortitudo Bologna. He put up 17.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game on 45.5% shooting. But this time, he couldn’t win the EuroLeague title.

NBA Earnings

Wilkins made most of his NBA money from 1991 to 1999, when he earned $16,482,500 in 9 years. From 1992 to 1994, the Hawks paid him in the $3,100,000 to $3,500,000 range, marking his highest-yielding salary period in the league. Apart from these contracts, Panathinaikos signed him to a two-year $7,000,000 contract. At that time, it was the richest deal for a pro-baller who wasn’t part of the NBA. However, this contract would later land in legal soup as Nique and the club had a fallout over his absence

Net Worth

Estimates suggest that Dominique Wilkins has a net worth of $16 million. Much of his earnings can be attributed to his NBA playing days. However, the former Hawks Forward has continued to make substantial money after his retirement too.

After retirement

After retirement, Dominique Wilkins is enjoying a serene lifestyle in Atlanta. As a food connoisseur and a cook, he is often found eating in restaurants such as Four Seasons. He also spends a ton of time playing golf with Atlanta’s Bobby Jones Golf Course being his primary choice. His most prominent work after retirement has been as a color analyst for the Atlanta Hawks, a position he has had for FSN South since the 2008-09 season.

Since Wilkins was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes just after retiring, he launched a diabetes prevention program called DominiqueCare in association with Well Star. Mic’d Up Referees Caught Discussing How 49ers Have Made a Huge Mistake at the Super Bowl OT

Buy Now

After fighting hard all season to reach the Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers found themselves in a tough spot. Despite a two-digit lead in the first half, the Niners secondary could no longer limit the Kansas City side, leading to a last-second field goal for a tie. The NFC champs had luck in their favor and won the toss, but a simple blunder changed the entire outcome of the matchup, and the Chiefs easily defended their title in overtime.

This heartbreaking 22-25 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs marked the second consecutive Super Bowl defeat against them for the Niners. Many players on the 49ers’ roster were unaware of the updated overtime postseason rule, mistakenly believing that scoring first would secure victory without realizing the Chiefs would also have a chance to score.

During the crucial toss to determine who would possess the ball first in the Super Bowl overtime, 49ers’ LB Fred Warner won the toss and opted to take the ball. As it turns out, Mahomes was told to choose to kick if he had won the toss, which was still served to him on a silver platter, after the NFC Champs chose to take possessions first. Even the referees were overheard discussing the questionable decision, with lead official Bill Vinovich remarking, “You don’t want to give Mahomes the ball back.”

NFL overtime is like a thrilling bonus round in a game. At first, the rules were pretty simple, which said if one team was able to score a touchdown on the opening drive, the game would then be declared over. But the new rule guarantees that both teams will get at least one possession in overtime. It’s similar to the excitement of college football overtime, where each team gets a fair crack at it.

Now, in the 49ers vs. Chiefs game, San Francisco had their first shot. They drove down the field in 13 plays and kicked a field goal from 66 yards, getting three points on the board. Then the Chiefs returned and executed a breathtaking drive and a trick play by their shot-caller for a beautiful 3-yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman.

If the San Francisco 49ers knew beforehand that three points might not seal the deal, they might have taken a risk and gone for a touchdown instead of settling for the field goal. However, the 49ers couldn’t strategize and make the most of their chances in the heat of the moment and suffered a heartbreaking loss that will be remembered and debated in the coming years.

The Viral Moment That Sealed Patrick Mahomes’ Third Super Bowl Ring

In his seven-year NFL career, there’s not much that could surprise Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. However, when he lost the toss to Fred Warner, he couldn’t have anticipated getting the winning edge despite losing. When Warner called for tails and won the toss, opting for possession of the ball, Mahomes was left stunned.

It wasn’t losing the toss that surprised him, but rather the fact that, despite losing, he ended up with what he wanted. In a viral video, you can clearly see his expression change and the way he looked at the referee. He knew in an instant that now nothing could stand in his way of winning his third Super Bowl ring. NFL fans too noticed Mahomes’ reactions and took to social media to share their opinions.

As the dust settles on the unexpected outcome of the Super Bowl, one thing is for certain: the 49ers won’t be forgetting the overtime rule anytime soon, or perhaps ever — until it changes again. Despite the heartbreak, it was a remarkable journey for 49ers QB Brock Purdy, leading his team to the Super Bowl in just his second season. Moreover, looking ahead, there’s no doubt that the Niners will enter the upcoming season as favorites to clinch the Super Bowl title once again.
