Anthony Edwards Declaring Phoenix Suns Getting Dominated by Mavericks at Home a ‘Disgrace’ Resurfaces

Anthony Edwards lit up the NBA scene after sweeping Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2024 Playoffs. Besides the incredible show from Edwards, averaging 31 points, 8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2 steals, fans also got to see little to and fro between the veteran Durant and Ant. Throughout the series, he was in KD’s face and showed disdain for the Suns’ veteran squad. Is there a reason why ANT couldn’t resist clowning the Phoenix Suns? As per one of his old Instagram stories, there is indeed another explanation for this.

After suffering a first-round exit in the 2022 playoffs, the Timberwolves guard watched the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks Game 7 during the Western Conference Semi-Finals. He recalled how the Suns’ athletes had been talking trash to the Wolves about being unable to make the playoffs. Thus, when the #1 seed gave up an embarrassing lead to the Mavs in the deciding Game 7, Edwards didn’t miss out on a chance to mock them,

I remember when we playing Phoenix, they were talking so much sh**. Tellin’ us we better make the playoffs, we ain’t gonna make the playoffs. We out of the Playoffs but this is a disgrace bruh. Y’all got 36 points in the third quarter, this is terrible,” Edwards stated in his 2022 IG story, as per ‘Overtime’.

Fast Forward to 2024 and Ant-Man doused Devin Booker and his Suns in the first round. Apart from the Game 4 six-point win, they had a differential in the 12-25 points range, summing up their dominance. The rising superstar repeatedly made Kevin Durant known that a new era was enveloping the league.

Is an Anthony Edwards takeover confirmed?

During the Suns’ sweep, ANT mocked KD by saying he is “old” and will snatch away his throne. His comments generated widespread attention and analysts compared his trash-talking and fiery spirit to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. After acing the first round of the playoffs, the guard talked to the TNT crew and touched upon his fiery spirit. He also paid homage to his teammates who helped him get to the second round,

Big shout-out to my teammates. They came out and competed at a high level throughout the whole 48 minutes and they trusted me at the end. So big shout-out to those guys.”

Mandatory Credit: Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Later, Kenny Smith asked the 22-year-old how Edwards “admired” KD as he was growing up. While showcasing his adulation for the 2x Finals MVP, Edwards teased about talking trash to his 2024 Olympic teammate,

I got the utmost respect for KD. He comes in and competes every night. I watch every last one of his games since I’ve been about 5. I love that guy. I’m excited to play with him this summer, talk a little trash and let him know I sent him home.”

At any rate, Anthony Edwards has hit the gong on the changing landscape of the NBA. With Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and potentially LeBron James out of the fray, it is indeed the start of a new era. The OKC Thunder and the Timberwolves embody the takeover by the young stars.

“Motherf**ker Oh What Up Mike”: Shaquille O’Neal Relays the Fear That Set Within Him Upon Being Touched by Jon Jones and Mike Tyson

Dana White, President of the UFC, indulged with the famous British journalist Piers Morgan, in 2023, in an interesting debate about the greatest fighter in combat sport’s history. While White went with UFC heavyweight, Jon Jones, Piers decided to side with boxing legend Mike Tyson. While there was no clear winner, the Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal recently gave his insights on the debate. While it is hard to believe that probably the most dominating player in the league is afraid of someone, he confessed to being intimidated on just three occasions.

Possessing a 7’1″ frame, Shaq stated that there are only two people on planet Earth he wouldn’t “step to”, Jones and Tyson. With UFC legends Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman, on the ‘Pound for Pound’ podcast, Shaq revealed how, despite their sociable nature, both Jones and Tyson inspire a “different” kind of fear in him,

“It’s only two times people, three times people ever touched me, and I don’t want to use the word ‘scare’, but when you turn around and see their face, you turn it off.”

The first instance was when Shaq met Jon ‘Bones’ Jones during a Giants Super Bowl game. The Big Fella recalls suppressing his anger when Jones hit the NBA legend on his back, resulting in Shaq turning around and greeting the UFC champion. The second time it happened, was when Shaq met former Heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. Recalling his interaction with Tyson, O’Neal said,

“Tyson was the same thing. One time I was in the club in LA, and Motherf*ker hit me right at the top of my neck with a fist, I was like, ‘Motherf*ker, Oh what up, Mike.”

It’s hilarious that O’Neal was afraid of Tyson because Shaq is a whole foot and a few hundred pounds heavier than “Kid Dynamite”. His cautious attitude isn’t only reserved for top-level combatants either, as the Big Fella believes that even the average Joe is now dangerous due to the wide availability of combat training. The Big Aristotle admitted to not liking MMA athletes for the same reason, holding them responsible for empowering the ‘little man’ to stand up to giants like Shaq.

Shaquille O’Neal once got into a Bentley war with Mike Tyson

Los Angeles in the 1990s and early 2000s was the hub for all things sports. While the Lakers were the main attraction in town, boxing legend, Mike Tyson was another sporting celebrity that held the capacity to sell out stadiums with his peek-a-boo style of boxing. While Lakers big man Shaquille O’Neal was admittedly a big fan of the heavyweight champion, he wouldn’t let that fact stop him from competing against his boxing idol.

Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

In his 2011 book, Shaq revealed that during his LA days, he actually got a chance to compete with Tyson, but the competition had nothing to do with boxing or basketball, but with Bentleys instead. Recalling the story in his book “Shaq Uncut”, the Diesel revealed that he once spent $600,000 on buying Bentleys, in an attempt to outshine a clueless Tyson,

“While I’m standing there, I hear this kind of squeaky voice that sounds familiar, and there he is—Mike Tyson, the boxer. He’s looking at Bentley’s, too. The next thing I know, Tyson has picked out two. He’s buying two of these cars, so you know what I’ve got to do. I’ve got to buy three!.”

While the happiness of beating out the Brooklyn-based boxer was surely something else, the financial fallout from O’Neal’s decision was heavy. Not only did Shaq spend a fortune to make the cars drivable, but he also ended up selling them all for a heavy loss, a decision he regrets.

Kevin Durant Insinuates Not Caring About Anthony Edwards’ DX Celebration

Buy Now

The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be crushing all hopes for the Phoenix Suns’ playoff run. The T-Wolves are currently 3-0 in this opening-round series and one step away from sweeping a team for the first time in the franchise’s history. After winning Game 3, Anthony Edwards was hyped to thrash a team with three big names, including his favorite player, which called for celebration. While the Suns were booed by their home crowd after the dismal performance, Edwards hit the DX celebration on them.

NBA Insider Gerald Bourguet posted a clip of Kevin Durant on X speaking about Edwards’ celebration in a post-game interview. Interestingly, the two-time NBA champion had no issue with Ant-Man celebrating the way he wanted after the game. He believed the Timberwolves could do whatever pleased them after winning a game. KD remarked,

“You win the game, do whatever you want.”

Game 3 against the Suns, yet again, featured a brilliant performance from Edwards. He posted 36 points, 9 rebounds, and two steals, evidently emerging as a star to lead the way for the Wolves. On the other hand, Phoenix is in a difficult hole to crawl out of, as no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit.

As much as it is justified for Ant to celebrate such a moment of his career, the crass nature of it might earn him a fine from the league. Many NBA players, including LeBron James, have been fined around $15,000 for crude gestures, such as the ‘Big Balls’ celebration, which they might have done in the heat of the moment. There hasn’t been any official communication from the league yet if Ant is to be fined for his DX celebration. Regardless, it feels like Edwards is on a mission.

It seems to be personal for Anthony Edwards

Time and again, Edwards has expressed his love for Kevin Durant by claiming the 2x NBA champion to be his “favorite player”. He even considers KD to be the ‘GOAT’ player in his ranks among several other veterans. For him, to play a series against Durant personally means much more than many people realize. In a way, Ant is getting to prove his worth in front of his favorite and receive his flowers.

Mandatory Credit: Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

On the other hand, Durant and the Suns have entered a crisis as it seems it is almost back-to-home time, for them. There is an urgent need within the organization to address the existing loopholes, causing them to lose games in double figures. One of their foremost concerns to evaluate would be their point guard situation, which definitely isn’t working in their favor.

Several analysts have highlighted the need for a floor general and big bodies in the team. In the upcoming offseason, the Suns’ front office will need to look into all potential options to fill in the gaping hole that seems to be the root of their problems.

‘Vindication Is Not The Right Word’: Greg Norman Feels Pity For Past Critics Who Turned Into Supporters

Greg Norman could be easily labeled as the happiest man in the golf world right now after LIV Golf Adelaide‘s second consecutive success. In a recent exclusive interview with Australian Golf Digest, he also claimed that “vindication” would not be an apt word to scale the success of the LIV Golf league.

The CEO of the Saudi-backed league has faced constant criticism for his leadership in the past 16 months or so. However, ‘the Shark’ has shown a forgiving nature to those who have not supported him and the league.

Before becoming a successful entrepreneur, Norman had an inspiring professional golf career. His two Open Championship and five Australian Open wins always touted him to be the greatest Aussie golfer of all time. Henceforth, Norman brought LIV Golf to Australia as a return gift to the fans who supported him throughout his career.

“The support Australia gave me during my own playing career for decades was something I have never I have never forgotten.  It’s why I brought LIV Golf back home – I did it for them,” Norman added.

As per reports, 35,000 spectators gathered together at The Grange Golf Club this Sunday. It shows the significance of Australia as a golfing nation and that can be credited to Greg Norman and his league. ‘The Shark’ was not shy to talk about the hatred he had received, but was proud to see the LIV Golf Adelaide succeed.

Greg Norman Plans To Expand The Landscape Of LIV Golf

Who would have thought that a late-blooming 41-year-old Brendan Steele would inspire a victory at the Grange Golf Club? And what about the all-Australian Ripper GC squad living their victory moment in their home country? The two-time major winner made it all happen with his planning and vision for LIV Golf.

Norman is now all set to expand the disruptive league as he takes flight to the Philippines to escalate the talks of potential golf events in the country. He will also be setting his sights on South Africa to give the all-South African Stinger GC a chance to live their moment on their home soil.

“You sensed when they missed their opportunities on that first playoff hole that perhaps their fate was sealed there and then but I thought they were so gracious in defeat. They are exceptional players and exceptional people who all believe in what LIV Golf is all about. I’m hopeful their time will come to return the favor on home soil.”

LIV Golf will be traveling to the Sentosa Golf Club for its seventh event of the 2024 season. Although there is no information regarding the TV viewership, Greg Norman would certainly hope to see crowds turning up in massive attendance in Singapore.

Apart From the Bears, Draft Expert Names One More Team That Aced the First Round

The Chicago Bears drafting Caleb Williams as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft was a move that everyone saw coming. The franchise is also being lauded for cleverly building a deadly offense to support their new quarterback. But as it turns out, they aren’t the only ones who aced the 2024 NFL draft.

Another team that took full advantage of the draft day is the Los Angeles Chargers, as mentioned by draft expert Joel Klatt during his recent sit-down interview on the “Rich Eisen Show.” Klatt thinks that Coach Jim Harbaugh has stepped up for his new team, making sure all the key roles are covered for their success.

Joel Klatt also asserted that Coach Harbaugh is reshaping the team’s approach by creating advantageous situations for QB Justin Herbert. The head man has made a name for himself by setting up situations for his players where everyone can effectively collaborate, a crucial way to secure a win. This was also the reason behind Harbaugh’s success with Michigan, notably during their 15-0 season last year and their CFP victory.

“How does Justin Herbert become the best version of Justin Herbert? Play in advantageous situations. That’s what Jim Harbaugh does. His entire ammo is about advantageous situations for his offense, making sure that everything complements one another so that you can go out there and win the football game,” said Joel Klatt.

The color commentator also stated that the Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert might not throw for 4,500 yards, but he will have much better chances to win games in the upcoming season, all thanks to Harbaugh’s strategy.

Chargers’ Draft Strategy Pays Off

The Los Angeles Chargers have selected nine players from the 2024 NFL draft, out of which five will bolster the offensive front and the remaining will support the defensive side of the ball. Utilizing their first-round pick, they carefully selected a talented offensive tackle Joe Alt as the fifth overall.

In the later rounds, they selected WR Ladd McConkey (No. 34), RB Kimani Vidal (No. 181), WR Brenden Rice (No. 225), and WR Cornelius Johnson (No. 253). As for the defense, Harbaugh selected Michigans LB Junior Colson (No. 69), Alabama’s DT Justin Eboigbe (No. 105), Mayland’s CB Tarheeb Still (No. 137), and Notre Dame CB Cam Hart.

Also, by bringing in seasoned players like TE Hayden Hurst, TE Will Dissly, RB JK Dobbins, and RB Gus Edwards, the Chargers already have enough offensive firepower. With these weapons, Justin Herbert can trust his throws more, thus boosting the team’s playoff prospects.

Reveling In Their $3 Million Win, Cam Smith And Co. React To Ripper GC’s Monumental Success At LIV Adelaide

Winning in one’s home country is special and Cam Smith’s Ripper GC lived that dream in LIV Golf Adelaide. They may not have an individual winner but came out strong as a team to defeat Louis Oosthuizen’s Stinger GC. After their second-team victory in the Saudi-backed league, the Aussie players expressed their feelings at the winners’ press conference.

Despite shooting 6 under par in the front nine at the Grange Golf Club, Lucas Herbert’s bogeys on 11th and 13th could have cost his team the playoff chance with Stinger GC. However, he soaked into the pressure well and shot three birdies on the 15th, 16th and 18th. While speaking on the pressure of entering the final round, the 28-year-old revealed the game plan that he spun with his caddie.

“I don’t know that I felt too much pressure… I sort of chatted with purely my caddy before the round.” Herbert talked about his game plan and continued, “I thought was where we were going to really take advantage of the golf course. So I was kind of prepping myself for a pretty hot start… Then I think we played that stretch of holes… I was kind of like, “oh, damn it, that was our advantage gone.'”

Ripper GC’s second LIV title came after Smith and Leishman faced Oosthuizen and Burmester in the playoff match. They did beat them with one stroke, but the nerves were felt all across the arena. When the winning team’s Matt Jones was asked to sum up their first win in their home country, the Australian revealed it was a feat they wanted to achieve last year.

“No, it’s not that easy to sum up. For us to win in Australia as a team, that’s something we wanted to do last year.” Jones highlighted Rippers GC’s winning reason as he said, “To do it with these guys, we’re all good friends. We have such a good time together, and I think that’s one of the aspects that makes our team so good.”

The 44-year-old described LIV Golf Adelaide’s win as special because of his Aussie teammates. And quite evidently so, as they managed to grab their hands on the hefty prize money!

How Much Did Each Ripper GC Member Earn From The $25 Million Purse?

LIV Golf Adelaide saw Brendan Steele become the first HyFlyers GC player to lift the individual title. He beat Louis Oosthuizen by one stroke to win the biggest paycheck of $4 million. Meanwhile, Ripper GC won their second title at the Grange Golf Club to receive a massive amount of $3 million as prize money.

Matt Jones was the highest-ranked Ripper finishing T9 on the leaderboard. His teammates, on the other hand, finished on T14 rank on the leaderboard. Captain Cameron Smith reflected on his team and their bond. He recalled that since their foundation they have been good friends and it has helped them look at golf in a “different way.”

“Ever since Leish and I had come into this team with Jonesy and Wade, that’s all we talked about. It’s such a different way to think about golf. Especially for us, I think, because we’re all such good mates… There’s a couple of teams that don’t quite get along as well as what we do, but doing something for your mates is special.”

In addition to the $3 million as a team, Jones earned $385,500, and his other teammates Smith, Leishman, and Herbert earned $275,000 from the individual prize purse. The LIV Golf team will now head to Sentosa Golf Club to play in the LIV Golf Singapore event. With their current form, each Ripper GC team member has, one of them can surely contend for the first individual title of the 2024 season this week.

What Advice Did Greg Norman Get From Sir Nick Faldo Post His 1996 Masters Victory?

Buy Now

Greg Norman recently shared details of his 1996 Masters experience in conversation with American sports commentator Joe Buck. The renowned golfer, also known as the “Great White Shark,” first revealed his struggles with back and hip pain during the tournament. He mentioned how he knew that his golf swing was off, even though his performance was at peak.

Additionally, Norman recounted an interaction with a British journalist named Peter De Bruyne, who bluntly told him that he couldn’t possibly blow a six-shot lead on the final day of the Augusta tournament. The two-time major championship winner was leading the 1996 Masters tournament from day one, but he eventually faced defeat by the end of the final round.

After Norman’s defeat at the major, Sir Nick Faldo advised the Australian golfer not to let the media’s scrutiny affect his confidence in his performance. He also reminded him that interacting with the media is part of their professional duties, and encouraged him to face it.

“He (Faldo) said it was about the media. He said don’t let the b*st*rds get to you. Because you know, you have to go to the media room. You have to face your music, right? Nothing wrong with that. That’s part they got their profession.”

Tragically, the 69-year-old golfer was unable to win the green jacket as he shot a 6-over-par 78 in the final round. Meanwhile, Faldo, who had been closely trailing him and was in second place before the fourth round began, shot a 5-under 67 to ultimately win the major and don the coveted jacket.

It’s worth mentioning that although Norman never won a Masters tournament, he had triumphed twice in the Open Championship. Moreover, his first major victory was the result of the invaluable advice given to him by golf veteran Jack Nicklaus on his golf swing.

Jack Nicklaus’ Advice That Brought Greg Norman His First Major Win

Greg Norman was facing difficulties with his golf swing back in 1986 when he won the Open Championship. However, he was fortunate enough to meet Jack Nicklaus in a restaurant where they were both dining.

The now LIV CEO was quick enough to request some advice from Nicklaus before heading to the final round of the Open, the following day. To this, the American professional golfer responded by saying that he must be conscious of his grip pressure while hitting a shot.

Norman followed the advice and performed his best on the final day of the event. He carded a total score of 5 under par and defeated Gordon J. Brand to win his first major title. He even confessed that this particular tip made him clinch many more victories on the tour.

When Adrian Newey Rejected Ferrari’s Offer to Work With Michael Schumacher – “I Would Have Found It Almost Disrespectful”

Buy Now

Ferrari’s pursuits to land Adrian Newey at Maranello are no secrets. However, each time the Italian giants tried to get him onboard, the Briton rejected the offer. There was a time when he had the opportunity to work with Michael Schumacher. Even then Newey turned down the opportunity. That was despite them offering a much higher pay than his incumbent salary.

In his autobiography, How To Build A Car, Newey recalled the meeting with the Maranello outfit in 1995. After landing in Bologna, he was taken to Jean Todt’s farmhouse. Newey was working with Williams in those days while Schumacher was on course to win his second world championship with Benetton. The aerodynamicist was impressed with the salary offered to him. However, when asked about his opinion on working with Schumacher, the prospect turned out to be a deal breaker.

Despite his championship-winning pedigree, Newey was not a fan of Schumacher. Just the idea of working with the German was ‘disrespectful’ to him. Newey wrote, “To be honest, I had very mixed feelings about that; Schumacher was clearly a fearsome competitor and the best current driver, but Imola and that conversation with Ayrton [Senna], when he was convinced that Michael was using traction control, was still very raw in my mind; I would have found it almost disrespectful to work with Michael so soon afterwards.”

Newey had another big reason not to join Ferrari. The then-Williams engineer was afraid moving to Italy might ruin his marriage with his second wife Marigold. That was despite Marigold’s willingness to move with him to Italy. The paranoia, however, stemmed from the failure of his first marriage, which Newey blamed on his move to America for work.

Where did Adrian Newey head to post Williams?

Differences began to develop between Adrian Newey and the rest of the Williams management in 1995. Despite that, he signed an extension for another three years to stay with the team.

This time around, he had a fool-proof clause added to the contract – to be consulted on matters involving serious business, including decisions on drivers. Williams management violated that clause twice by not consulting Newey while hiring Heinz-Harald Frentzen and later dropping Damon Hill.

The growing distrust led to Newey parting ways with the team at the end of 1996 and serving a gardening leave before joining McLaren in 1997. Despite joining the new team, the aerodynamicist admitted he was rooting for Jacques Villeneuve to win the championship in the season finale at the Jerez circuit. One of the reasons behind it was his influence on the 1997 Williams car that Villeneuve was driving.

The other reason was Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher being the other title contender. In the autobiography, Newey disclosed the general mood in the pit lane. Most teams wanted Williams to win because of their dislike for Ferrari. Wonder if Newey’s disdain for the red team still remains to this day.

Michael Jordan Unveiling Jordan Brand 27 Years Before Earning $330 Million From It Resurfaces

In September 1997, Michael Jordan, unbeknownst to everyone including him, stepped into the final year of his glorious career with the Chicago Bulls, whom he had led to five NBA championships until then. MJ was a visionary, on and off the court. He was not going to retire just another great player who left and after some years, forgotten by the community and fans. He made sure that his legacy became part of history. Before his ‘Last Dance’ with the Bulls, the superstar announced the launch of a new entity, the ‘Jordan Brand’.

Nike and Jordan had earned an eye-watering sum of money selling the Air Jordan shoes for 13 years. So in 1997, the sports apparel brand decided to take the next step and give Jordan his own clothing and apparel line making him “an unofficial CEO” of his brand. MJ had huge plans for the brand. When asked about his vision for it, he said,

“We’d love in some point of time as the [Jordan] brand grows and proves to be successful, we separate ourselves from Nike and become more of an entity of it’s own.”

Unsurprisingly, Nike did not let its biggest cash cow become an entity of its own. 27 years on, MJ, Nike, and the Jordan Brand remain attached to the hip. Together, they changed the sports apparel business quite similar to how the iPhone did for mobile phones. Even off the court, everything Michael Jordan touched turned to gold in the 1990s. However, his brand became the biggest piece of gold.

Michael Jordan earns an eye-watering sum of money from Jordan Brand

Less than a year after launching the Jordan Brand, Jordan walked away from the NBA for the second time. After leading the Bulls to their sixth NBA title in eight years, he announced that he wouldn’t return if head coach Phil Jackson did not. Chicago did not retain their six-time title-winning coach and lost MJ to retirement.

Mandatory Credit: Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Per Sportac, he was the highest-paid player in the league in 1998, earning $33.1 million, $13.1 million more than the next-highest-paid player, New York Knicks’ Patrick Ewing. Walking away from over $33 million a year would’ve adversely affected any athlete’s bank balance. But not Jordan.

Those annual cheques from the Jordan Brand ensured MJ remained one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet, despite retiring from the NBA. That remains the case 26 years since his second retirement. Per reports, Jordan earns an estimated $330 million annually from Nike. That sum is nearly 2.5 times more than Forbes’ estimation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s income in 2023, whom they listed as the world’s highest-paid athlete. The Jordan Brand’s soaring revenue, which, per Forbes, hit $6.59 billion in 2023, ensures Jordan’s bank balance continues to multiply.

Helmut Marko Warns Red Bull About Expedition to Miami That Could Be Tricky to Conquer

Buy Now

In the initial five races of the 2024 season, Red Bull has managed to win four. Thus, the RB20 has managed to claim itself as the fastest car on the track. However, it’s not unbeatable as per Helmut Marko. According to the 80-year-old, Red Bull’s trip to Miami could be tricky where yet another conquest can prove to be hard to come by.

“The tracks where the rivals could get a little closer to us are Miami or Monaco, especially in Qualifying the rivals are close. I can imagine that it won’t be easy to conquer the pole position in Florida,” said Marko as per Formula Passion.

With Ferrari and McLaren making impressive gains and showing the ability to challenge the RB20, Marko states that some of the external factors can alter the race results. One such possibility is high tire wear.

Red Bull faced the same problem in Australia and witnessed its first defeat of the season. He is expecting a similar thing in Miami, where teams like Ferrari and McLaren can get the edge.

However, Red Bull’s tire wear isn’t as dramatic which could make them lose regularly. But certainly, Ferrari and McLaren can have longer stints than them as seen in China.

Marko also admits that he was shocked by McLaren’s prowess in China. The Woking-based team managed to outperform Ferrari with the help of Lando Norris. And now, this Miami GP update could be another positive for the Papaya team.

Can McLaren’s upgrade be a bull’s eye after the update by Helmut Marko?

McLaren boss Andrea Stella long ago informed via media that they will be making an upgrade on the car ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. According to him, it will be one of the biggest developments instilled by McLaren.

In the last race, Oscar Piastri had taken a hit on his floor that jeopardized his result. But if that had not happened, then, as per Charles Leclerc, Ferrari could have faced more struggle in fetching P4 and P5 for the team.

Now, with Miami being considered as one of the places where McLaren can prosper, according to Marko, this could be their chance to fetch a win for the first time since 2021. And on a more positive outlook, it could be Lando Norris’ race to win. The 24-year-old has been waiting for one ever since his debut in 2019.

The Briton has won 15 podiums but is yet to win a race. It is the highest podium tally for a driver without a win. However, in an era where Verstappen is winning every possible race, it’s hard for anyone else to register any victories.

“Flashbacks of Michael Jordan”: Anthony Edwards’ Stellar Performance Turns Stephen A. Smith into a Fan

Anthony Edwards announced his candidacy to be the face of the NBA in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 1 win over the Phoenix Suns in their first-round playoff series. The young guard had his way with the Suns’ defense, torching them for 33 points, on his way to leading his team to a 120-95 win.

Edwards’ performance was impressive enough to earn him a comparison with six-time NBA champion, Michael Jordan. Comparisons between MJ and Ant-Man’s playing styles have already become a staple in NBA circles. On Tuesday’s episode of the Stephen A. Smith Show, the ESPN analyst fanned the flames further,

“Anthony Edwards, Lord have mercy… Watching Anthony Edwards gave me flashbacks of MJ (Michael Jordan) in Game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals… That’s what I saw from Anthony Edwards in the third quarter against Kevin Durant. That’s what it felt like as he dismantled the Suns scoring 18 points in that third quarter and was talking smack to KD. Looking for KD. Giving it to KD and then talking to KD.”

Smith called Edwards his new “favorite player” in the NBA and it’s no surprise he feels that way. The Timberwolves star hit jumper and jumper in Game 1 of the series, regardless of whether Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, or Durant guarded him. Smith’s comparison of Edwards’ performance in the series-opener with Michael Jordan’s stunning outing in Game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals against the Portland Trail Blazers is pretty apt.

The Bulls superstar tweaked his game in the series and resorted to shooting jumpers instead of attacking the rim. But that did not affect his efficiency. He shot 6-0f-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 39 points in a 122-89 win for Chicago. Like Jordan, Edwards shot an efficient 4-of-8 on three-point attempts. The 22-year-old put on a show and even dominated Durant, one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Michael Jordan endorses Anthony Edwards as his successor in the NBA

Stephen A. Smith isn’t the only one who sees Michael Jordan in Anthony Edwards. The Bulls icon himself sees glimpses of his prowess in the Timberwolves’ rising star. While Jordan hasn’t publicly admitted to it, he sent the message via Fox Sports analyst Chris Broussard. On the March 19th episode of First Things First, Broussard said that he had reached out to Jordan for his opinion on Edwards. He revealed,

“I reached out to the GOAT (Michael Jordan) today. Michael Jordan said there are similarities in their games, he agreed!”

Jordan is seemingly watching Edwards closely and Smith confirmed this on Monday’s episode of First Take. The analyst said that he had called the Bulls icon to ask if he was watching the young guard dismantle the Suns. He responded in the affirmative and said,

“That brother is special. No question about it.”

Getting Michael Jordan’s stamp of approval is a badge of honor for any basketball player. For the GOAT to acknowledge that he sees similarities between himself and Edwards is a distinction unlike any other.

Dutch Journalist Lambasts Lando Norris for Max Verstappen Making F1 ‘Boring’ Remark

Buy Now

Ever since the advent of the ground effect regulations, Max Verstappen has enjoyed unprecedented dominance over F1. Such is the level the Dutchman and Red Bull are performing at that many blame them for making the sport ‘boring’. The latest to join that brigade is McLaren’s Lando Norris. The Briton’s comments, however, haven’t gone down well with Dutch journalist Tim Kraaij.

The GP Blog columnist wrote, “The competition has been unable to build a car as fast as Red Bull Racing since 2022, and no competitor have been able to perform as consistently as Verstappen does.” Kraaij then shifted the blame to Norris and continued, “In that respect, Norris would do well to look in the mirror himself. The Briton has been driving for McLaren since 2019, a team that, like Verstappen, he could have controlled by now.”

Kraaij’s argument revolves around the other teams and drivers’ inability to catch up to Red Bull and Verstappen. Targeting Norris for being one of them, he pointed at the McLaren driver’s ‘shaky’ performances.

Citing the most recent example from China, Kraaij pointed to the sprint race pole position that Norris failed to convert on Saturday. There have been more such instances that have rendered Norris winless until now.

Max Verstappen, on the other hand, has not only emerged as a proven winner but also a leader. Kraaij made an exclusive reference to the 2018 season that marked a change in his fellow Dutchman’s mindset.

Verstappen made a habit of driving efficiently to deliver consistent results. Kraaij claims that happened as the Red Bull driver was no longer risking it all for unrealistic results. With time, Verstappen’s feedback became crucial for Adrian Newey and Pierre Wache to curate quicker cars.

How Max Verstappen has managed to build a team around himself?

Ever since his first world championship win in 2021, Max Verstappen has only taken his stature higher with each passing season. His partnership with Red Bull reached its crescendo in 2023 as the team accumulated 21 wins from 22 races. Verstappen bagged 19 out of those 21 victories.

It is clearly visible how each successive Red Bull car suits Verstappen’s driving style more and more. That would never be possible if Adrian Newey and Pierre Wache did not value his feedback and the ability to steer the development.

The symbiotic partnership makes Max Verstappen unbeatable in the same car. After registering two early race wins in 2023, Sergio Perez failed to add to that tally. As the season progressed, the Mexican’s struggles amplified while his teammate frequently won races with a gap of more than 10 seconds to the runner-up on most occasions.

There also came a point when even Helmut Marko admitted that the reigning champion was unbeatable in the same machinery. The only drivers he claimed were capable of beating Verstappen were Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

Ferrari Set to Make Changes to Iconic Red Livery to Mark Special American Milestone at Miami GP

The iconic red livery has become synonymous with the Ferrari team, who have competed in F1 for several decades. However, for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, the Prancing Horse will feature a blue livery on their car to celebrate a special American milestone.

According to Motorsport, Ferrari will celebrate 70 years of competing in motorsports in the United States. To celebrate the momentous occasion, the team will feature two shades of blue: Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino.

The website adds that when Ferrari first competed in the US back in 1964, they featured a special white and blue livery. Hence, to pay homage to their first race in the US, they will once again sport a blue livery on their cars. So far, it is unknown whether they will feature these shades of blue as the accent color or the base color of the livery.

Even last year, Ferrari used a special livery for one of the races. Soon after the legendary outfit won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the Ferrari F1 team decided to celebrate the brand’s victory by sporting a yellow accent livery at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix.

With the United States now hosting three races in each F1 season, Ferrari will hope to perform well in the Americas, beginning with the Miami Grand Prix this weekend. The Miami GP is likely to pose a difficult challenge for Ferrari as they were arguably the fourth-fastest side at this circuit last year.

Can Ferrari with their improved pace challenge for the podium in Miami?

Since the start of the 2024 season, Ferrari seem to have established themselves as arguably the second-fastest side on the current grid. While the Italian outfit perhaps still do not have the pace to fight Red Bull, they seem to have been comfortably clear of the likes of Mercedes and Aston Martin so far this season.

Only McLaren in recent races seem to have threatened Ferrari’s status quo as the second-fastest side this season. The Woking-based outfit did so by registering an impressive result in China last weekend.

Lando Norris grabbed his second podium of the campaign in Shanghai by finishing second, only behind race-winner Max Verstappen. The Briton managed to grab a podium despite fears that McLaren may not perform well in Shanghai because of the MCL38’s struggles in slow-speed corners.

With McLaren seeming to have even tackled their weaknesses from last year recently, they could pose a threat to Ferrari at the upcoming race in Miami. What will worry Ferrari even more in Miami is that McLaren will bring upgrades to the race, whereas the Italian outfit will only bring their upgrades to Imola.

“You Can’t Not Play The Strongest Team” – Bernard Gallacher Joins Rory McIlroy in Plea for Ryder Cup Rule Change Amid LIV Golfers’ Eligibility Debate

The 2023 Ryder Cup witnessed a magnificent victory at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. However, much has changed since then. Both players from Team Europe including Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton have joined forces with the LIV Golf league, making them ineligible to compete in the 2025 Ryder Cup competition.

In light of this, former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher has advocated for a rule change to allow LIV players to be selected for the prestigious tournament. He argues that the team should include the strongest players in the competition. Additionally, he emphasized the fact that the Ryder Cup would be less compelling without the presence of Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

Bernard Gallacher said (via Daily Record):

“You’ve got to put your strongest team out there.”

He added:

“Tyrrell Hatton is a major winner ready to happen. Take Scottie Scheffler out of it, he’s as good as the players around. I’ve always felt he’s a guy who could win a major so you take him as well. You can’t not play the strongest team. The Ryder Cup would be very diminished without Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, for sure.”

It is worth mentioning that when Team Europe triumphed over Team USA in 2023, the European lineup featured Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Sepp Straka, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Nicolai Hojgaard, and Ludvig Aberg.

Additionally, when Jon Rahm switched to the LIV league for an estimated $500 million, Rory McIlroy was the first to insist on including the Spaniard in the lineup for the next Ryder Cup appearance.

What Did Rory McIlroy Say About Jon Rahm Joining LIV and How It Would Call for a Rule Change?

Earlier this year, Rory McIlroy assured that despite Jon Rahm’s move to the Saudi-backed league, he will be a part of the upcoming Ryder Cup event at Bethpage Black, scheduled to commence in 2025.

The 34-year-old said (via Daily Mail):

“Jon is going to be in Bethpage in 2025 so because of this decision the European Tour are going to have to rewrite the rules for Ryder Cup eligibility, there’s no question about that. I certainly want Jon Rahm on the next Ryder Cup team.”

Nevertheless, only time will tell whether or not LIV players like Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton will get a chance to compete in the 2025 Ryder Cup! Also, considering the insistence of skilled PGA Tour players, it remains to be seen whether the authorities will make any alterations to their rules.

Despite Winning Madrid Open a Record 5 Times, Rafael Nadal Missed Out on $1.33 Million to Fellow Big Four Members

Buy Now

Rafael Nadal took home prize money over $5 million just from his performances in the Madrid Open over the years. But having lost in the final match thrice in his career there, Nadal missed out on bagging another $1.3 million. It is rare for a player in any tournament to have a unique record of this sort where they have won the title more than any other player (5 titles for Nadal in Madrid) and yet lost the most number of finals as well.

The ‘Raging Bull’ reached the final for the second time in Madrid in 2009 and was expected to emerge victorious. However, Roger Federer put up a terrific performance, defeating his rival 6-4, 6-4. With the virtue of the title win, Federer was awarded $793,145. Whereas, Nadal only received $366,067, missing out on $427,078.

In 2011, Nadal made his third finals appearance in 3 years. But the 22-time Grand Slam champion wasn’t able to replicate the success he witnessed in 2010. It was Novak Djokovic’s turn to spoil Rafael Nadal’s party. Hence, the Serb was given $847,117 in prize money. On the other hand, the southpaw got $394,843.

After a one-year absence, Nadal once again made it to three consecutive finals – winning in 2013 and 2014 but losing in 2015. Having already lost to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the past, it was only fitting that the last member of the Big Four – Andy Murray – would also defeat Rafael Nadal.

List of the winner’s prize money and the money Rafael Nadal missed out on

2009

Prize money for winner – $793,145

Prize money Nadal received – $366,067

Missed out on – $427,078

2011

Prize money for winner – $847,117

Prize money Nadal received – $394,843

Missed out on – $452,274

2015

Prize money for winner – $894,910

Prize money Nadal received – $438,808

Missed out on – $456,102

Total

Prize money for winner – $2,535,172

Prize money Nadal received – $1,199,718

Missed out on – $1,335,454

(Figures from Perfect Tennis)

Nadal has earned $134.6 million in prize money so far. Certainly, he wouldn’t be sweating over the additional $1.33 million. However, having lost those three finals would’ve been tough for the ‘King of Clay’. But the Spaniard would look to make amends in the 2024 edition of the Madrid Open as his presence is the most anticipated by the tennis world.

Dynamic Duo Patrick Mahomes & Andy Reid Unite to Scout Talent Before NFL Draft 2024

Buy Now

As the football world gears up for the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs are ready to make some moves. While head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach usually call the shots, this year, however, they’ve added their star play-caller to the mix. As it turns out, Patrick Mahomes isn’t just focusing on honing his skills in the off-season—he’s also taking a hands-on approach to the team’s selection process, as detailed by him in a recent media address.

The two-time MVP shared insights into his role as a pseudo-scout, revealing that he has been assisting the team with evaluating aspiring talents. He was also very thankful that the Chiefs’ GM and his head coach gave him this opportunity to stay involved.

It’s cool that Veach and Coach Reid kind of let me in on all of the conversations that they have about players. I like that stuff,” Mahomes said of his involvement. “I like watching films and watching other guys from college and stuff like that. At the end of the day, we have the greatest of greatest as far as GM and head coaches and the staffs that they build, so I know they’re going to get great players in here.”

While Patrick Mahomes may not be the one dialing up prospects come draft day, his active involvement in evaluating prospects could prove invaluable for Kansas City. His inputs would add an extra dimension, with their sights set on a three-peat.

Three Impactful Prospects That Might Interest Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs

With the NFL Draft looming closer, the buzz about rising and falling prospect stocks has been intense. Amidst this anticipation, it’s worth examining whether these players could be worth trading up for the defending champs. They significantly struggled last season in the receiving room, and surely, the club would be looking to make some impactful additions there. The defending champs are also in dire need of bolstering their O-line.

Taliese Fuaga, Offensive Tackle (Oregon State)

Taliese Fuaga is garnering attention as a “draft crush” for many NFL enthusiasts. While some speculate he could transition to guard, others see him excelling as an elite offensive tackle. Fuage’s exceptional strength and solid anchor are standout qualities, despite concerns about lateral speed. While drafting Fuaga wouldn’t necessitate a dramatic trade-up, his availability past pick 15 is uncertain. If he falls to 22, the Chiefs could be poised to make a move.

Rome Odunze, Wide Receiver (Washington)

In most mock drafts, Rome Odunze is projected to be off the board by the 10th pick, showcasing why he’s considered one of the prime wide receiver prospects. At 6-feet-3, Odunze boasts exceptional route breaks and tracking ability, attributes that elevate him in this year’s draft. While scenarios for the Chiefs acquiring him are limited, if Odunze slips past the Raiders at pick 13, all bets are off. It’s conceivable that the Chiefs could leverage multiple picks from this and next season for such top-tier talent. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Unlikely.

Brian Thomas Jr., Wide Receiver (LSU)

While Brian Thomas Jr. may not boast the same hype as his counterpart, Malik Nabers, he’s still a valuable addition to any receiving corps. Despite his towering 6-foot-3 frame, he possesses the ability of a smaller player with a blazing 4.3s 40-yard speed. The process could be similar to what the Chiefs need to do for Rome Odunze. Although, they won’t mortgage their future picks for a player of Thomas’ caliber. However, if Thomas slips to the 17th pick, where the Jaguars are positioned, the Chiefs could explore trade-up possibilities.

For now, there is no shortage of uncertainties, and only during D-Day will the Chiefs Nation have an answer. As per NBC Sports, the Chiefs will enter the 2024 draft on the back of seven draft picks.

5 Years After Retirement, Dwyane Wade Reveals the Secret of the ‘Heat Culture’

Buy Now

A lot of players and fans in the NBA credit the Miami Heat’s culture of training and conditioning players under a tough regimen to their consistency in the league over the years. The franchise has become an example, in the last decade or so, of how team culture can impact the performance of players. The ‘Heat Culture’ is largely the reason behind Miami’s seven NBA Finals appearances in the last 18 years. Furthermore, last season, the team surprised everyone in the league with their shocking run to the Finals as the 8th seed in the East.

Heat legend and 3x NBA champion Dwyane Wade recently shared on his Instagram story the secret of the Heat Culture. Wade shared a clip of himself talking in a podcast about the culture in Miami in detail.

In The Wine Down podcast, Wade was asked about sustaining the Heat culture and whether it’s possible to carry it with him to other places. Wade replied, “It is so hard. You can bring it to the players. LeBron James can leave Miami after four years and go back to Cleveland and take some of the culture with him, this is what we did, this is how we do it to the players.”

Wade highlighted how the culture inculcates within all former Heat players and impacts their performance in the long run. As he mentioned, LeBron James did introduce the hustle and hard work he had picked from Miami’s team culture to his teammates in Cleveland after his return. That resulted in the Cavs winning their first championship in franchise history, under the aegis of LeBron James in 2016.

Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

However, D-Wade also mentioned how the organization had a different way of functioning to sustain this culture. To explain this statement, he said, “The people that they are bringing in have some of the same intangibles. Some organizations just going to grab talent. They ain’t worried about their personality traits, how their personality is gonna fit with this. The Heat has a certain [way to do it].”

Wade mentions this attribute as one of the pillars of the franchise, that has helped in keeping the Heat Culture alive in Miami. Indeed, with Coach Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley leading the team, Miami has created one of the best team cultures that many teams in the NBA strive to inculcate in their franchises.

Miami Heat has been consistent

To consider the impact of the Heat Culture, it is worth noting Miami’s performances in the past two decades. Since 2010, the Golden State Warriors and the Miami Heat are tied for the most appearances in the NBA Finals, with six appearances. Out of these, Heat has won two Finals consecutively in 2012 and 2013.

Though it’s been a decade since Miami won their last chip, they have still maintained their consistency in the league. In the last four playoffs. the Heat have made two Finals appearances and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals three times. Furthermore, they even had a generational playoff run last year as a No.8 seed, making it to the NBA Finals. This season as well, the Heat is the 8th seed in the playoffs, with fans hoping for them to maintain their same playoff form as last year.
